OTTer was the mascot of TraceTogether, a mobile app by Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) used during the COVID-19 pandemic to facilitate contact tracing. Introduced through an app update one year into the pandemic, OTTer would show up on the SafeEntry check-in landing page, swimming from one side of the screen to the other. The animation prevented screenshots of the landing page to be shown to officers manning SafeEntry counters at public venues.

The otter was chosen as the mascot because it is a popular wild animal in Singapore, and the word contains the letters “TT,” which are the initials of TraceTogether.

Wearing a peach coloured top and a cat-like smile, OTTer was featured on GovTech’s social channels when it posted TraceTogether content.

With the discontinuation of TraceTogether in 2024, OTTer was retired. Despite its brief presence, OTTer was well received by the public and several inspired fan creations and memes.
