Sharity is a pink elephant mascot introduced by the Community Chest on Children’s Day in 1984. The name “Sharity” combines the words “share” and “charity,” reflecting the mascot’s mission to encourage children to care for and share with others.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Sharity was a familiar figure in schools, promoting values of compassion and generosity among young Singaporeans. Students were given Sharity-branded envelopes to collect donations for the Community Chest. After a period of retirement in 2008, he was brought back in 2016 with a modernised design.

Sharity’s original look consisted of a yellow crop of hair and blue dungarees. His refreshed design kept the blue dungarees but changed the hair colour to orange, and he sported a more contemporary look, with perfect circle eyes and large pupils.
In both versions of Sharity, he was accompanied by other characters. In the 1980s, Lanky Giraffe, Lavender Lamb, and Mick Monkey joined him on adventures in Sharityland, as featured in the children’s book series My Sharity Collection.

The current version of Sharity appears in animated videos and meet-and-greets with Buddy the Dog, Felicity the Cat, Cheeky the Monkey, Flappy the Pigeon and Spikey the Hedgehog.

In 2024, Community Chest celebrated her 40th birthday with an exhibition called Sharity Reimagined, where artists and public figures hand painted figurines of Sharity to raise funds.

A series of videos were also produced including an interview with the Sharity’s costume performer.
